It’s ok
We arrived early about 9am to avoid the crowds. We pulled up into a car park with no signs saying you had pay to park. As soon as we got out the car someone came over and started saying we needed a tour guide to see the falls. We politely declined several times before he moved off on to easier pickings. I don’t need a guide to show me a route and down some steps which are plain to see. So off we walked to the viewpoint at the top of the waterfall. The view wasn’t that good to be honest so we followed the path to the right walking away from the falls. We carried on along the path then onto a dirt path which then started to go downhill. We passed a couple of juice bars until we got to the end. We took a few photos and then backtracked the way we came then at the top of the falls took the left path. This was crowded with stalls selling all sorts and a few restaurants. You follow the stairs down to a vantage point about half way down. Here you can have photos taken of you sitting on a horse. We didn’t bother with having our photo taken so carried on down to the bottom of the stairs. When you arrive at the bottom you can use the bridge to cross over to the other side of the river or take a short boat ride to the bottom of the falls getting wet. We crossed the bridge and made our way onto the large rocks protruding from the water. From here we took photos. We wasn’t blown away by the waterfall as we had seen better in Iceland. We then made our way back up the steps. The restaurants wash there floors and proceeded to sweep the water down the steps making them slippery in places. Once we arrived back at our car we was again hassled for money for the parking so after haggling a bit I gave him a euro. I can’t imagine how hard it would be to get up and down the steps once the coach loads of visitors have turned up. We was there about a hour and half. If you have a car arrive early giving you the place virtually to yourselves and leave before 11am before the masses turn up.
