About This Experience

Description

A journey through time and place. With over 30,000 objects spanning over a hundred years and ranging in size, FBQ Museum represents a modern version of a Cabinet of Curiosities, the historic and eclectic room of marvels from the Renaissance that amazed connoisseurs and collectors throughout time. It displays items spanning from the Jurassic age through to the early Islamic period and up to the present day, across twelve themes: from Islamic Art to Qatar Heritage, Vehicles, Jewelry & Currency. Visitors to the museum can explore one of the most diverse collections of any Doha museum including the world’s largest private collection of swords and weaponry. Among the Museum highlights, the Syrian House and the Qur’an room. Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani’s collections reveal the common thread of cultures that connect communities from as far apart as Southern Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia.

An unexpected gem

Not what we expected! Free parking and a warm welcome, wheelchair accessible at the entrance. 50QAR to enter per adult. A free map was provided and the friendly receptionist explained the best route. Just as we were about to start the tour the owner, Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassam Al Thani arrived and insisted on a group photograph and presented us with his own book on the history of Qatar, an absolute honour. The museum is his private collection of treasures, which has to be seen to be believed. Everything was beautifully presented, and whilst more information might have been useful on some items it did not detract from what we saw. Frequently a member of staff guided and educated us on specific objects. It is not possible to state everything that is on display, but it goes from the very ancient to the modern world, with surprises in between. At the end of the tour you come to the car collection, it is simply stunning. Vehicles from the conception of the motor vehicle through to the beautiful ‘Eleanor’ Mustang GT500. Overall an excellent museum and well worth seeing.

Amazing Museum you won't regret visiting

The size of this museum and the shear number of artifacts is amazing. Exhibits cover an amazing array of world history. Truly one of the largest private museum's in the world, the collection is Smithsonian quality.

WOW. AMAZING CARS, FOSSILS, AND ANTIQUES

The best collection of fossils, antiques, and cars I have ever seen! The exhibits featured exceptionally well-preserved and rare artifacts—pieces you wouldn’t typically find in general museums. From intricate antique craftsmanship to unique and pristine classic cars, every display felt special. A significant part of the car section was under renovation—I wish it had been open. I managed to get a sneak peek, and what I saw was extraordinary. In my opinion, this was the best museum.

A vast random collection half an hour from Doha

The museum is a vast collection of oddments put together by one sheikh. There were zero visitors apart from me this morning but the huge exhibition spaces are well lit and air conditioned. The collection includes American cars, a plane, an authentic reconstructed Syrian house, stuffed animals including elephant and tiger, WW2 artefacts, carpets, fossils, Bedouin tents, furniture, World Cup souvenirs etc etc etc.
