This trip departs by 4WD to Wadi Al Abyadh ( White Wadi ), where we will pass through the lush farm land and watch the roaming camels as we travel towards the distant peaks of the Hajar range which rise to more than 1000 meters. After rough riding, we will enter the outskirts of the village of Al Abyadh, where you can slip through the village and catch a glimpse of ancient cliff side houses. Soon you will reach Wadi Al ABYADH, spring filled shallows, fringed by golden sand dunes on one end and massive mountain ranges on the other, the essential criterion of a perfect tour. We will stop for lunch in a local restaurant, and after the lunch, stop at the Nakhl to see its highlight the FORT.

The Balcony hike has the most stunning views !

My husband and I are both fit and in our mid 60s and we loved the balcony hike ….. we went all the way to the end which is a nice little lake part way in a cave area . We had a picnic lunch there …..it is past the village where you scramble over rocks and walk to your left side a ways We hired a guide from zahara tours and it made the hike much more interesting as we learned the culture, history, flora and fauna of the area as well as info about the village which was abandoned just 30 years ago. Yes there are drop offs as you are hiking but honestly it is a fairly wide trail and we never felt unsafe. I do agree though you need to be fit to finish it and it is for the over 14, 15 or 16 year old group ….. well worth it we took 2 hours each direction ……with a 30’minite stop at the pool. . It was one of the highlights of our 10 day trip to Oman truly the friendliest and most peaceful nation on earth ! ( : The country places a high value on their reputation in the world and taking good are of those who come to explore its stunning landscapes, architecture, forts, villages, long turquoise coastline and exquisite mosques…as well as swim in its gorgeous wadis Wadi sham being the best and a must see/must do! ..I have traveled In 126 countries and Oman is up there as one of my favorites! !

Amazing Oman

The town of Muscat is very spread out, traversed by 3/4 lane motorways, the only interesting part is Mutrah, around the souk, it's hot & humid. Outside Muscat, the best places were Djebel Sham, a very deep cayon, walking to a wadi :Wadi Shad, the green mountain & the views around there, small towns: Birkat, El Hamra. We found the adverts about tours no use, they wouldnt reply by phone or email. One of them did ( GYGuide) & took us by minibus for 12 people to WADI S & the sinkhole, it was very expensive, a tourist trap. It started late, walking in the sun at 11.30 was not good. The best thing is to hire a car & when it's not possible to finish the itinerary if it's not a 4x4, hire a driver from the Heritage Hotel or any hotel & negogiate the cost. That way is much cheaper, the drivers know the places, chats to you, tells you about the history.
